Meet Renee Smyth
Clinical Assistant
Growing up, Renee always exercised, and at about 17 she became passionate about fitness. At 19, she started working as a Fitness Consultant and Nutrition Coach for about 2 years at a local gym.
From Gym to Chiropractic Office
Over the years, Renee gained a lot of experience working with people with injuries and significant restrictions. As a result, she was confident she could work in a Chiropractic/Physio setting. Renee joined the Stevenson Chiropractic & Wellness team in 2019. Before serving as our clinical assistant, she had other responsibilities, including various administrative tasks.
Certifications & Continuing Education
Renee became certified through CANFITPRO as a Personal Training Specialist (PTS). As part of her education, she learned about fitness theory and how to apply it practically in areas including assessment, program design, and personal training session delivery.
She also did an online course for Precision Nutrition and has a certificate in Sport and Exercise Nutrition. Passionate about continuing education, Renee has also taken numerous courses and seminars over the years.
Providing Programs for Patients
In her role, Renee shows patients their stretches and exercises, putting together their customized programs as they need them. Patients usually see her following their chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Scott or Dr. Spencer will let Renee know what areas to work on with the patient, such as scap stabilization or core strengthening. She then starts building a program from there.
Renee plans to provide group sessions starting in the new year, including in-person and online Zoom sessions.
In Her Spare Time
Outside the practice, Renee enjoys spending time with her young daughter, her husband and three stepchildren. When she and her husband have time to themselves, they enjoy golfing, going out to dinner, and just relaxing at home.
